Canada is known for being one of the most diverse and open-minded countries in the world. As one of Canada’s leading educational institutions, University of Waterloo also prides itself on its support of diversity, unity and change. However, University of Waterloo is one of the very few Canadian universities that have refused to implement the Positive Space Campaign, in support of the GLBTTQ community among its students and staff. University officials claim that the presence of Positive Space stickers on campus will only assist in creating negative spaces where the stickers are not found. On the contrary, the presence of Positive Space stickers on campus serves as an indication that the campus, as a whole, is a supportive and open-minded environment, rather than the lack of any supportive symbols at all.
To show you favor your university supporting the GLBTTQ community by implementing the Positive Space Campaign, please sign this card and drop it off or send it via inner campus mail to the FEDS Office.
It is our school, let’s make a difference.
